R-alpha-Lipoic acid tromethamine salt

Application Lipoic acid (LA), also known as alpha lipoic acid (ALA) and thioctic acid is an organosulfur compound which is widely used as a dietary supplement in some countries marketed as an antioxidant and is available as a pharmaceutical drug in other countries.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid bulk material available today is (R/S) or (+/-) Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), meaning it contains a 50/50 mixture of (R-Lipoic) and unnatural (S-Lipoic) Lipoic Acid. The S-Lipoic Acid form, which is not found anywhere in nature, is a byproduct of chemical synthesis.
